Not sure of your hat size? Whether you’re buying your first Panama hat or adding to your growing fedora collection, getting the right size is always important. Hats that are too big will block your eyesight, and hats that are too tight will cause headaches! This blog will help you be stress-free when it comes time to picking a hat size.

    What You’ll Need:

    • Measuring Tape OR string and a ruler

    • Mirror (or a friend)

    Measuring Your Head:

    1. Position the tape: Take a soft measuring tape or a long piece of string and wrap it around your head. The widest part of your head is located right above your eyebrows, and there should be a slight notch at the back of your head. The string should sit approximately a pinky’s width above your ears.

    2. Read the Measurement: Looking in a mirror, hold the measuring tape (or string) just tight enough that it does not fall down, but loose enough that it is comfortable. Take down the measurement in centimeters for the most accurate fit.

    3. Repetition: Repeat the process a couple of times so you know that number is accurate.

    4.  Consult Ultrafino’s Sizing Chart!

Tips: We recommend sizing up if you are in between sizes as this can be adjusted with our hat size reducers. Also, keep in mind the different materials, straw hats might stretch less than wool or felt. Lastly, if you are getting a gift for someone, a safe bet is 7 ⅛   or 7 ¼.
